Split PDF

Choose a PDF and DocsBee saves each page as its own PDF file, packed in one ZIP. The work happens in your browser, so your file stays on your device. If you only need some pages, Extract Pages is the better tool.

How to split a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF. The page count shows once the file is read.
  2. Check that the split mode says every page becomes a separate PDF.
  3. Select the split button and wait while the files are made.
  4. Download the ZIP and open it. The files are named like yourfile_page_01.pdf and are in page order.

When people use it

  • Separating a batch of scanned payslips, invoices or forms into single files.
  • Sending one page of a long document to one person.
  • Saving each certificate or ID that was scanned into one long PDF.
  • Getting single pages for upload forms that take one page at a time.

What this tool does not do

Split makes one file per page. It does not split by page range or into equal parts. For other jobs, use a different tool. To save a few pages as one new PDF, use Extract PDF Pages. To remove pages and keep the rest, use Delete PDF Pages. To cut a long document into two or three parts, run Extract PDF Pages once for each part.

Tips and limits

  • Fillable form fields are flattened before the split. The pages look the same, but the fields can no longer be edited.
  • A 300-page PDF makes 300 files. The files together can take more space than the original, because each one carries its own copy of the fonts it uses.
  • The page files start with the name of your PDF. Give the PDF a short, clear name before you split it, and the files will be easy to tell apart.
  • If the tool says it could not read the PDF, the file may have a password or be damaged. Remove the password first.

Privacy: what happens to your file

The split and the ZIP are made in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device. Only ordinary page requests can show up in our host's logs.
